Subject: sheep and donkeys

WCOH
Any one run miniature donkeys and sheep together? Kids want a miniature and there uncle offered them their pick out of his barn. Would want to run it on the same pasture as ewes all summer. In the winter I can pen it up separate if needed in the barn. I know nothing about donkeys so please advise me.
1) Female, male or cut male?

2) will pasture alone be enough? I don't want to feed any grain all summer especially since I don't feed the ewes any.

3) they have there choice on age from just weaned to 7 year old. I was thinking just weaned so it can grow up with the lambs and be used to them.

Thanks for any advise before I tell the kids yes..

we tried an intact alpaca once and that was a nightmare. Then I couldn't give the damn thing away. Ended up in buddies pasture when he was on vacation. He will never ask me to help feed while he is gone again.
