Subject: how bad of an idea is this nitrogen plan..

near dyersville iowa
Was planning on putting nitrogen on my planter this year. However, im super sto..and it seems putting the nitrogen set up on my planter wont cost much less than buying a small sidedress applicator. How bad of an idea is it to put half my nitrogen on as 28% preplant with the coulters..and then the other half in a month again with the coulter? Cec numbers run around 15-17. I was putting urea with esn on..however i am moving to strip planting for conservation purposes..and the strips will be less than 35 feet wide..which i dont think you can spread urea with the cps wagon at less than that width? Id gladly stay with the urea if you can get it spread in 25-30 foot strips..I dont have auto steer, so probably would end up crossing the preplant strips with the planter at some point/time..would i see any root burning?
