Southwest Iowa | For those of you running a Drago Series II corn head, how often do you clean out the deck plates in season? Or what do you do to keep them functioning properly?
We are currently cleaning ours up to put away for the winter and are getting them loosened up. There's a plate with 7 bolts underneath each deck plate that we've taken off plus the gathering chain guide to be able to get all the dirt and debris out of there to free them up. Does anybody leave that plate off while harvesting to allow that stuff to fall through and hopefully not build up, which causes the deck plates to stick and not work properly? Is there any other tricks or ideas that a guy can do in season to keep them working that doesn't take a full day to accomplish?
