Subject: Oak tree sapling help

East Central Indiana
I've got an oak tree sapling I need advice on.
My grandfather passed away this fall. Some good friends of ours got us an oak tree sapling to plant in his memory. Which is great especially since we will be building a house soon.

So long story short we planned to plant it at my dads place this fall but that didn't happen due to my wife's brown thumb.
We still had a lot of acres to harvest when we got the tree so my wife took the job of caring for the tree. Well she used soft water from the tap inside and the salt in the water just about killed the tree.

So I took over the tree care.
It lost almost all its leaves. Only has about 8 leaves left and those were brown almost clear to the stem. But after some careful watering and moving it around to be in the sun as much as possible. I have green halfway back up those leaves and have 3 new buds forming.

Where do I go from here.
It's in a pretty small pot. Do I put it in a much larger patio pot? It will be inside throughout the winter.
Should I fertilize it? If so with what? Miracle grow, a small amount of turkey litter?
Do I need to to mix in heavier top soil with potting soil to support the roots?
