53590 | I have a cousin whose son(Phillip) has been passed around a bunch. In and out of group homes his whole life. The mother and father are not in the childs life and never really have been. Well 5 years ago (he is 14now) my uncle and aunt on my mothers side took him in. Well let me just say he's turned 180* from what he used to be. I'll be honest I wouldn't have left him alone in the front yard with a dog for 5minutes. Yesterday I was at my uncles house helping hang and mud dry wall. Phillip went out to mow lawn while we were working in the basement. Some time had gone by since we heard to mower and when we went outside we saw him coming back down the street with the mower (a nice rider). When asked where he was he replied " Well Gerts lawn wasn't mowed yet so I mowed it" Gert is an 80+ year old lady who is a few houses down the street. Her grandson usually mows for her but lately has been falling behind on that. He then made us all smile when my uncle asked if he talked to her and he said "Yea she was glad I mowed and said she didn't have any cash so I had an icecream cone with her" I found out this morning that he is now her new lawn care guy!! I guess it just goes to show the way/environment your raised in or are currently in really shapes who you are as a person. We are all very proud of him, he has came from a wild you know what of a kid to a very nice young man. Sorry for the rambling just felt I had to share. | |
