| I am sticking my nose in here and hope it does not get cut off. With respect to metabolism, life and age is not fair.
Our bodies perform according to the program that controls them. We can't do anything about our genes, but genes control our thyroid hormone levels. Thyroid levels need to be in tight ranges to have a healthy, not lethargic metabolism.
Below is a chart of what the ranges are for slim healthy young adults. If your thyroid is not on the lower end of the T4 range and not in the higher end of the T3 range, you will not be happy or very successful at weight loss. If your thyroid is really screwed up, you might have the dreaded RT3(reverse T3). RT3 is sabotage by your body to make you fat. It finds the T3 receptors and keeps the real T3 from performing its function.
You may may to be your own advocate, good luck
Rigorously screened, healthy volunteers tested as follows, so ignore any labs’ reference ranges:
TSH .4-2.5 (yes, 5.+ anything is too high!)
Free T4 .7-1.8
Free T3 for women 4.25-6.19
Free T3 for men 2.0-5.0
Reverse T3 ZERO
Antibodies ZERO! UNdetectable!!!
(There are four antibody tests.) | |
