PBS has a documentary on the Leopold and Loeb thrill killings from 1924. Millionaire' sons (Loeb was a vice president of Sears Roebuck) were saved from the death penalty because their parents had so favoured them.
Interesting now that we are considering the case of the Dallas vehicle murderer.
