North East Wimmera district of Victoria. | Hope this is the right forum for an answer to this problem!
Live in town, and next door renter just moved out, along with a dog. He had two, but one killed a snake and was itself bitten.
The fence between us needed some repair, so while the house was vacant was an ideal opportunity.
Problem - ten days after he left I was there working on the fence, and got infested with fleas - thousands of them!
Sprayed with chlorpyrifos, which I believe is both a knockdown and a residual.
Question 1. - what length of time will flea eggs take to hatch?
Question 2. - will the chorpyrifos deal with the next hatching?
The whole scenario is a little more complex than first grab!
I was scheduled for a hip replacement, but with the flea bites, I was told that the chance of infection had increased from 1% to 1.5%. I thought that was not much, but was told that it was a 50% increase in the risk of infection, so go home until the bites had completely gone. Thus surgery is now re-scheduled for 14th Dec.
I would like to do more work on the fence, but CANNOT risk more bites.
Guess being prudent and keeping well away is the best option.
Thanks in advance for any helpful contributions. |
