Jewell County KS | One of my milo feilds got some hail damage from the big storms last night. What can I expect now. I'm guessing 50-60% damage with alot of heads broke over and hanging about a foot of the ground. This was the last feild I got planted and it still has green berries with some still a bit milky. It may have just a bit of color to them if you look close.
I've raised alot of milo but have never had any hailed this late in the season.
It looks like a good chance of a bunch of light TW if it goes to harvest. Dryland, drilled in 10" rows on 6/17, 85,000 population. Looked like 120+ bu milo before the hail.
I've got a guy that could chop it and I could use the silage easy enough but it is 12 miles away from where I would like the pile. What kind of tonnage can I expect if I have it chopped ?
I also have some beans at the same place and they look awful, beans a pods all over the ground.
It sounds like further south and west of there got hit alot worse though.
Any advice needed. | |
