Subject: Its Almost Impossible To Figure A Corn Yield

WCMO-SWMO Area

This corn has rust spots on it and almost looks like its dying rather than ripening....I noticed that some of it is falling over....This is from my renters corn field in the western Missouri area...It was planted in early May and has had 25-30 inches of rain on it..It never hurt for moisture like most years..

Heres 3 ears that are around 14x54,14x36,and 14x30.....The poorer ears are from several fair sized areas that don't drain well..The ear size varies all over the field so its almost impossible to figure a yield....Its around 26-27,000 population...I divided by 100,000 on these 3 ears because of the kernel depth and size...Its too bad that they aren't all like the first ear..I don't think I could get within 30 bushels per acre on what this field will yield..The combine will tell the story..

Last year the ears were pretty uniform from one end of the field to the other and lots of fields made 180-210 bushels per acre..
