Subject: prices of fert inputs

east central ND
It seems a few years ago the big fertilizer companies -mosaic, potlac, etc - were posting record profits and soaring stock prices as the fert prices followed corn prices up. There cost of producing the extra volume of fert for the new corn acres was cheap due to the infrastructure of the mines/plants already in being in place and the fact the small number of fert producers could just say we want XXX for our product. I think fert, unlike corn prices, will stay mostly higher, mainly due to very few producers who are more than willing to slow production down or shut the mine doors to maintain a level of profit. Just look at the almost yearly acid "shortage" for making 10-34-0.
