Subject: Thinking about raising a couple cows?

NC, IA 50653

Thinking about raising one or two cows for ourselves and maybe some friends.

I've got a 60x30 cattle shed that hasn't been used for awhile but it's in good shape. I'm wondering what to do with the dirt floor, i don't have money for cement right now so what would be the next best thing? Would it be best to just pack it down and use straw or would some kind of gravel be good?

Also what would be the best breed to first start out with? Don't have any experience with cattle. Have been working with hogs for awhile. Got about a 2 acre fenced in area and they would be on grain and hay.

Just looking for some general advice...
