Subject: Lloyd Ratts

Lancaster, OH
I was thinking about all of the things we don't think about for someone that has turned 100.

When he was born, motorcycles were a novelty at best and we entered the largest war the world had ever seen;
At 15, the US went broke after one of the fastest growing economy ever;
At 27, listened as we were attacked by the Japanese at Pearl harbor. He might have fought in this one;
What would it have been like to know that only 2 bombs had defeated the Japanese?
From the 50's-70's we entered one of the fastest growing economy ever.
The adoption of commercial fertilizers
Chemical weed control
Open pollenated corn to hybrids
Soybeans? What are those?
Roundup Ready Soybeans
Insect Protected Corn
Recession? You boys haven't seen anything. Refer back to age 15.
Going to the bathroom could involve frostbite

You can add your own thoughts about the developments in the last 100 years that Lloyd would have seen.
