Subject: ? on oiling a wooden floor on trailer

Pontiac, IL.
We have an older gooseneck grain trailer that we only use for a water tank and tender trailer any more. The wood floor under the tank has started to rot, because of moisture, and not drying out. I have pulled the tank out and dried the floor . I know linseed oil would probably be the best for the floor, but someone said "just use used motor oil". Question: Would used engine oil do any good, -(or harm) to the floor. The only reason for using used oil would be $$$$ saved. Approx. $18 a gallon for linseed oil, and it would probably take at least 2 gallon. What would you use?
