My broker said that particular clearing house had instituted a policy of customers maintaining double the exchange required minimum. I can understand their desire to be cautious, but that seems pretty extreme. They must have been really burned by some customers or something. I still don't think I will disclose the broker or clearing co. but the broker did offer to move my account to another company. Because I have received good service from the broker for sure.
I think I will look into switching though.
