Subject: Weather, corn,

East central Iowa

Last Sunday in church I was asked if we got any rain.  I told them no, haven't for a long time.   Our lawns are turning brown and we have to cut the weeds which pop up.

It seems that when we are in a rainy spell and the forecast is 30% we get rain, maybe 1/2 an inch but when we are in a dry spell and the forecast is 80% all we get is fog.  That seems to be the case right now.  Though even the fog is pretty dry.

I'm wondering how beans and corn are going to yield as we've been over 2 weeks without rain and nothing really in sight.

When I was a kid we had a cattle buyer/seller who originally came from Texas.  He had a relative visiting him and his relative had brought along his son to see Iowa and rain.  He said the kid had never seen rain and they lived in a part of Texas that was and always had been dry.  Even when the great flood happened and Noah gathered all the animals that part of Texas only had a heavy fog.
