Subject: Grazing Soybeans

Southern Saskatchewan
Located in Saskatchewan and planted soybeans for first time ever this spring. They were looking great! Then we had a massive storm come through and there is only twigs and a leaf or two left of the plant. They were just starting to pod. I am wondering if the field should be terminated or can i leave it for fall grazing when the herd comes home in October? Will cattle graze it? I suspect not but they are relatively new to us so I am asking the experts. The crops that are available beside the beans are field peas, oats , durum. All which will be combined and I would suspect they would rather graze since they have the choice. There may even be some nitrate issues in the bean plants for the cattle? Thanks guys.
