tennessee | We've had near perfect growing conditions around here for most of the year. Except for one day in early June when we got 8" of rain in about 6 hrs.. Flooded most of my corn and beans, I grow mostly in river bottoms. The beans have recovered nicely but with a lot of holes in them, the corn on the other hand has not faired as well. I have a lot of 12 x 30 ears on my corn, not happy with that. Top notch, expensive hybrids, but I guess they don't take water knocking them down and sitting on them for a while very well. I had sidedressed 100 units of N a week before the flood, couldn't afford to go back and put more on. Just very disappointing when 1 day out of the year can screw your crop in a big way. We'll see how it turns out I guess.......... | |
