Subject: pro 600 on 1250 planter population

Jefferson, SD
Planted some milo for the first time the past week. My section average was close to the population I had set however the row average was about 20% lower. I know the row average was correct by comparing seed used. So does the section average just take the number of holes on the disc times the rpm's and not use the actual drop sensor numbers? In corn/beans I've never seen much variability but milo is some small stuff.

Another question with Milo: after about day 2 I had lots of disc holes with seed stuck in them. I took out the agitatiors and this seemed to help (not grind up seed) but still had to clean plates daily. I bought the 120 hole that the dealer had on hand. Looks like there are 3 sizes, do the other two have smaller holes? I was running about 7mph with disc rpm around 45 vac at 24-26, targeting 150k. Performance was not near what it is in larger seeded stuff but I was content enough to keep rolling. I could never achieve the nice even line graph I'm used to.

Thanks in advance.
