Subject: Change is HARD.

Beresford, SD

Started planting corn today.  Last year we ran an 8220 (no auto-steer) with a 1770 16R Finger pickup - mechanical drive.  This year 8285R auto steer and a 1770 CCS 24R variable rate drive.  WOW am I tired and still full of stress.  Auto steer was fairly easy to set up and use and the planter worked as it should, But man was I uneasy with the learning curve today.  I am struggling "trusting" the monitors etc. always looking back for turning shafts and chains to verify that the monitor is not "lying" to me.(but there are not any)  Started a 1/4 at 10:30am and took until 7 pm to finish.....Seems I spent all day digging and scratching looking for corn.  Guess it is going to take a field or two to get in my comfort zone.  Funny Dad owns the planting equipment and has always done the planting....however after 10 minutes in the cab with the JD tech he waved me over and said I was doing the planting this year.  The next field should be much less stressful.
