Subject: Right mower for baleage?

WCIN
Had a conversation about what would be the best mower for baleage. I think there are arguments for the different styles, but surely one has to be the best, right? Is an impeller style or crimping/conditioning rolls necessary, or will the ensiling process take care of breaking down tissue better? Do you really need to crack or scuff lignin?

Thoughts?
