In the usa things always seem to swing a Long ways...either one direction or the other.
Seems to be no "middle" most times.
the fed fight over taking ALL of the WEST started in the 70's and was very evident by the 1980's.
Go West, Young Man ( they are going to have to Pay you to help manage the dirt...or just give you the dirt anyway ).
Now times, this is going to swing back to where the government Needs to get Rid of the west. that simple
In the "swing back," the usa supposed govt ends up Paying folks to log, and graze the lands ( clean em up ).
( btw, the afore is ongoing is specific areas Now )
The big driver is in fact, future carbon sequestration ( repub or demo does not matter...That is ALL the Same ).
70 years ago 12% of the usa western forests were old growth forests.
Today, 85% of the usa western forests are Old Growth forests.
btw, Old Growth forests do Not sequester carbon, they emit carbon.
Only young growth stuff sequesters carbon.
( and mercury, nitrous and sulfur etc )
