| Paid my bill for using 3G in the States today. I knew it would cost,
but wanted to check road condition and weather while sitting at a truck
rest stop south of Fargo, in a blizzard. I checked Dakota's road site twice
using phone as a hotspot. Used hotspot idea as I had web site bookmarked
on my netbook. First check maybe had 3G turned on for 10minutes, as hadn't
use hotspot idea for a while. Second check had 3G for less the 5 minute.
They say I used 8MB of data. Total cost was 48 dollars. The phone costs where
.95/minute, making data about 3X the cost of talking.
Seems like all Canadian wireless providers charge an arm and leg for any
US data usage. Something smells, as even bargain rate companies seem to
charge high rates for any out of Canada data usage. At one time I could buy
a US roaming data plan, but it was costly. Only ones that seem to get a deal
are the ones that run up $20000 data bills for netflicks then go to the press.
Would be interested in known if anyone could check their data plans for
data use in Canada. | |
