Subject: landoll vt spring settings

Central MO
we have been running our landoll vt and having a little trouble getting it set right. we are trying to run shallow as to not bring up clods, but when we do this it seems to not go deep enough right behind the tires on the machine even though the ground behind the wings looks perfect.

when we go deep enough to get an even looking cut it clods up some.

some people have told me when they are in soybean stubble they raise the front gang out of the ground completely and only run the rear gang and basket but this doesn't sound right.

on corn stalks going to beans it is fine, just the soybean stubble or bare ground it isn't the best in the spring from what we can tell.

any tips?
