Subject: Late Model Case IH 7220 vs. 8920

WI
I am looking at a 1996 Case IH 7220 Magnum for sale from a dealer for $63,000. Suppoedly it was one of the last ones built in 1996. It is a 2wd model with 2460 original hours and in good condition with no obvious problems. I own a Case IH 8920 4wd already and have had no problems during the 4000hrs I put on it with routine service. I know injector & head gasket replacement were common on all the 7200 & 8900 Series Magnums at around 4000 to 5000 hours.

Concerning the 7220, since it is a late model with the newer style hood & decals, is the power shifting & other mechanical functions (i.e. hydraulic pump capacity, pto function, etc...) the same as the 8920 model?

Any advise on what I should look for is much appreciated.
