SEIL | I planted some SRWW in SEIL early to mid sept while we were still in a drought. Rained eight inches about a week later. It is very uneven but some of it is boot top high +. Mowed down cornstalks that didn't use any nitrogen and added several tons of Turkey litter prior to planting.
No fences and nothing to graze with but I could mow it off pretty quick with a couple of bar mowers or even a conventional 20' with 1680 combine or a Gleaner Draper 30. Giving lots of rain for the weekend so would not plan on getting any up for hay.
I mowed a small part of it a couple of times with a bushhog and it is back as big as ever.
Got 65A in question and another 150 that was properly timed and looks excellant. When is the first indication it is already bad? Would it not be till it heads out? I want to do what prepares me for a normal winter. lots of 20's a couple snaps down to 0 before March.
Does mowing the leaves even set the heart of the plant back any.
