Was watching the Iowa State game and tried to explain the redshirt freshman quarterback that ISU was using to my wife. I get the redshirt part, but would a r/s freshman be a sophomore that was a r/s last year?

P.S. game went poorly for me, but I should have put money on my bet in Sept that ISU would have a better record than Iowa.
