Gorham, NY | Hi,
I have put up a 40*64 pole barn (I didn't do the wood, or metal), I did the radiant heat system, and am doing most of the electric and plumbing.
The barn was built with a roof with a 9*12 pitch and the trusses were spaced at 2 foot instead of the usual 4 foot spacings for these trusses. This closer spacing was done so I can have a second floor that is actually in the center of the trusses and is 16*64*8. With this design, the second floor can support 40 pounds/sf which is about 20 tons of "stuff". I just have to watch out that I don't concentrate a lot of weight in a small sf area.
Anyways, I have a double man-door at one end of the second floor "loft" and am looking into a hoist of some type to bring heavier things up to the loft for storage-- like a rail hoist or pole/pivot hoist like you see on pickups. Would appreciate any ideas about this. Thanks in advance, Bob |
