Earlton Ontario | Three years ago I rented 90 acres of the heaviest red gumbo I believe on the planet. The previous two farmers virtually destroyed this ground via manure tankers in wet conditions. Water stands on the headlands after a good sneeze although the farm is systematically tile drained. I really thought I could bring it back through means of liming, cover crops and minimum tillage but am having a hard time seeing my way through it. I'm seriously thinking of spring planting radishes on the worst areas of compaction, to get as much growth/penetration as possible.
How many days till radish goes to seed?
Should I companion crop with something else such as clover?
Would Radishes be sensitive to Group 2 herbicide carry over? | |
