Subject: Question for the expert feeders....that means everyone

south central IOWA
Like my post below shows....we're feeding silage and ground hay. I have some bred heifers (small framed Angus) that I would like to see gain an additional 200lbs in 90 days. If they gain 300lbs.... well that's fine too, I think. LOL. The silage was about 75bu/acre---maybe 100bu/acre corn at the best. My numbers are on a dry matter basis and have been/planning on feeding 50% silage and 50% hay.

How many pounds/day would you feed them in order to achieve this goal? I can mix in some corn and gluten pellets too....is that needed?

If it makes it any better I will say what my plans for feeding them are but I'd rather hear what others have to say before I influence any ideas..... Thanks
