Illinois | I am having some fertilizer spread on to cornstalks that will then be chisel plowed with beans going in next year. On bean ground going to corn I am wanting to have fertilizer spread but am unsure when to do it. I dont want to disturb the soybean ground this fall and am afraid to leaver fertilizer on top without incorporating it. There are a few slopes and my fear is that the fertilizer will get washed down into the low spots and be counterproductive. Is it better to have the fertilizer in the fall so it has time to break down or is spring time a better time for fertilizer. My plan was to have fertilizer spread on bean ground in the spring and run a soil finisher through it before planting corn. So whats the best time to put fertilizer down and is it better to incorporate or will it do fine just leaving it on the soil surface? | |
