| well were lookin at putting together a seed tender over the winter and need to get the ball rollin to make an order for either a hopper type set up or a rack and vac system. we currently use drill fills on 2 triaxle straight trucks that we have to fill a db44 planter. works really good on our new planter vs our 1790 interplant but we still run into the dilemma of having to have 2 trucks and a pickup sitting in the field at the same time. (the triaxe with drill fill, semi and sprayer trailer for liquid fertilizer, and our service pickup) we bought a short drop deck trailer with extremely low miles on it for a song with intentions of setting up a seed tender trailer. we have a 1500 gal poly tank on it for our liquid fert for corn on it or water & soygreen for the beans. we had intentions of going with a rack for 3 proboxes/hardsides/etc. and a 2 inch blower system. thoughts on the blower system was you had quite a bit of flexibility on where the truck was vs where the planter pulled up at - drag hose around to where needed and fill vs back up under a conveyor everytime. BUT we have now found out that if we want to set up our planter the way we want with the blower system we will need a 3 inch system to be able to fill the planter in a decent time. trying to stay efficient on this deal. well long and short of it the 3 inch blower system costs quite a bit more than the 2 inch. and when we were told we had to go up to a 3 inch we looked into the bulk fill conveyor setup and realized itd roughly $3,000 more to go to the bulk fill. although with a bulk fill we could possibly eliminate the need for one triaxle/drillfill set up (we 95% of our bean seed in bulk as parent seed). anywho what do you guys have and use and what would you do in our situation? | |
