| I don't know why I make the same mistake every year but here I am, first super cold day of the year and they aren't working. Can anyone manufacture anything worth a crap any more? I have to replace them every freakin year and is the same story. I pull them out in the spring, wash em down and clean the heating element. Plug them in and they work. Put them in the tank in the fall and turned the switch on yesterday, well one kept on tripping the GFCI on the outlet and the other one wasn't apparently working as it was iced over. I think the thermostats go out on them? And on top of that it is an energy free tire tire but it still crusts over. I think the high water table doesn't allow the heat from the ground to rise enogh to keep the tank open.
Any suggestions or ideas. Any good ones out there that work and last? I don't know what brand I have but they are the floating red ones with the heating element.
Does anyone have those energy free scraper tire tanks with metal bottom and riser pipe and still have problems with them crusting?
But I will have to go to town this week and buy new tank heaters...again...arggggghhhh.
