Subject: JD 7810/7820 engine cutting out

SW Minnesota
I was finishing up with chisel plowing today with our '03 7810 and all of the sudden the engine would cut out for a few seconds (just like you had turned the key off), then cut back in again. Most of the time it would come out of it if you kicked the clutch in, but once in awhile it would stop completely and I would have to wait a minute or two, crank it for awhile - no go, try this 2-4 times, then it would start and away I'd go. Sometimes I could go for quite awhile before it would do it again, then the next time it would do it again in a few hundred yards. I first thought it might be the fuel filters, but when it would run it would work just fine at full throttle under load (no hesitation or dogging out). I'm thinking its some sort of electrical problem. This tractor is one of the last ones built and it basically has the same engine and fuel delivery system as a 7820. Any thoughts or ideas? Anyone else ever have this happen?
