Subject: Wheat pasture question.

Baldwin City, KS
I turned 63 head of 5-6cwt calves out on 40 acres of good looking early planted wheat, about 3 weeks ago. It has been dry dry here and they have it pretty well picked down. We have a really nice rain chance coming this weekend, but the temps look to stay in the 40s and 50s after it moves through. Will this wheat take off again and keep up with the calves for another 2-3 weeks if I leave them out there? I could shut them into a 20 acre fescue trap with some hay to give the wheat a chance if need be, but I didn't know if the calves would lose some condition by doing this. They look great and I would be ahead to just sell them if that was the case. Thanks for the input.
