Jefferson, SD | Wondering if other areas are seeing much above normal soybean pod popping? Locally, about the day the beans are ready to combine, they are popping. Dryland corners of pivots and drought stressed dryland fields are worse but we are seeing it even in healthy irrigated fields.
We've run into spots of 30% where the beans were already popped. You could stand in the field and hear them and see them too.
It's not just weak pod varieties, I have some old stand by varieties that I've never seen pop that are this year. | |
