The first three pictures show the corn on 8/3/2012. The ear is in the early milk stage. The plants are 61 inches tall to the base of the tassel shoot.
I took a core sample down to about 40 inches and found the soil was dry from 0-5" and could ball up it up from 5" on down to 40". This surprised me because it forgot to rain during July. Pictures 4 and 5 show the soil core. The pen in pic 4 shows the border between the dry and moist soil.
I looked up the rain collected starting on 8/3/2011 when the rye was harvested up to 8/3/2012 and came up with 11.22". From the planting date of 5/12/2012 it has rained 3.89". Not to soon after i collected this data this field received .6".
The following table shows the temperatures collected in another part of the field. There was herbicide drift on liberty link corn from roundup (at least thats we think happened) where the data logger was located. Picture 6 show tha damaged area on 6/24 and pic 7 shows it on 8/3.
In the data table the total gdd`s are from 5/13.
