Subject: Electrical Tach Problem.

central MI
I have a White 2-155 and the tach used to work sporadically... Now not at all! The IT manual really dosen't show any info about the tach anywhere. The synptoms are/were tach would come on and off when it wanted to,, more time off than on. If I would touch the preheat button, turn the lights on and off, turn signals it would sometimes work for a short time. If when it was working I changed from engine speed to ground speed or PTO speed it was almost sure to go out. I have tried using a separate wire to guarantee grounding and makes no difference.

If I have to I'll buy a new one but I would like to be sure it's bad before buying a non returnable part. Anyone got some ideas or a silver bullet?
