Central Kansas | I recently rented a farm on a cash rent basis. It is a verbal arrangement as of now, wondering if I should push to get something in paper. I would like to have something in writing for my protection, as well as the landlord's. I need to convey to him that I'm not trying to tie the place up for eternity, just want to protect my future investments in the event of a termination. I am also trying to come up with a renewal date that would work best for winter wheat as well as row crops. Right now it is Oct. 1. LL is flexible on date.
What inputs can be listed for reimbursement purposes if a termination is given? It is not a large acreage, but I'd hate to lay out fertilizer and herbicides for a crop I don't get to harvest.
Thanks for any suggestions or comments.
