Subject: corn head upgrades

My old low tin JD 643 cornhead survived the down corn but barely. It needs new gathering chains, stripper plates, snapping rolls, some gearbox and slip clutch work, etc. What are the best upgrades for the money? Replace metal with plastic, install Calmer trash reduction kit, knife rolls, feederhouse wedge kit, hydraulic deck plates. Other options would be to find a 693 in good condition or do the minimal repairs to my 643 and hold out for a 606C. I'd like better performance in down corn and reduced trash intake. Making out fine without chopping now so not sure if chopping head would be a benefit or not. Combine is a 9600 in good condition and that is staying around for a while. Don't need a larger head as 6 row fits my planter, my fields, and my hauling & drying capacity.
