I've been away from livestock for years.  So pretty ignorant.

We used to do something called flushing.  We would cut the ration on our gilts for a period of time and then feed them high fat and protein diets.  As I recall they would all be ready to breed then about the same time and was supposed to increase the number of pigs produced.

Is that still done?  Has it been discredited?
