Subject: variable rate planting

Northwest MI
Just wondering what kind of a pay back I could expect by going to variable rate planting? I live in northwestern Michigan, sandy loam soil, wide variations from side to side end to end. I'm not even sure what it would cost to put a system on my 7000 8-30 planter? Any input would be greatly appriciated
! Also considering variable rate fertilizer application to try and bump my yeilds? Thanks!
