Subject: Air seeder section control

Humeston, IA

Can an air seeder system have sectional control (i.e. shut of sections like booms on a sprayer)?  If yes, could a valve be fitted at/near a distribution tower, or would the seed potentially back up to the meters?  Do any air seeder systems currently have sectional control as standard or an option?

While I'm thinking about it - could one take a JD 730 disk drill air seeder, remove the cultivator shanks, and install coulters to make it a no-till rig?  Not heavy enough?  Or would accuracy still questionable?  Thanks!
