Subject: Flexi Coil 3450 VR Air Cart with Trimble Field IQ

We have a 3450 VR air cart (3 tanks) with electric/hydraulic metering, there are sensors for meter roller speed, manifold air flow, fan speed, hydraulic oil pressure and tank levels (optical at the base & sonar at the top). The original Flexi Coil screen and control modules are starting to have intermittent problems, so we have been searching for an alternative control system. Given we control our sprayer with Field IQ on a 2050 screen with the FM1000+ app, it made sense that we set the air cart up the same way.

2 years ago I came across a post on here with advice from an awesome guy in Redwood Falls, MN, who had his 2340 air cart converted to Field IQ. I'm curious to find out how common this conversion may be and if its possible to connect all the original sensors on the cart to the rate modules?

Here is a list of the sensors and motors on our 3450 air cart.
• Flexi Coil Shaft Sensor 13919 – meter roller speed – 3 pin plug.
• Flexi Coil flow sensor 13637V2 – air flow volume – 3 pin plug.
• Flexi Coil level sensors 13916 and 13501V2 – tank level sensors optical and sonar – 5 pin round plug.
• Flexi Coil electric motor 011-100-8017 – Bison 12v 6.32amp 1/16HP – 2 pin plug. This is a new model motor, but connects the same as the original.
• Flexi Coil shaft sensor 13976 – fan speed – 3 pin plug.
• Flexi Coil pressure sensor 51200013 – hydraulic oil pressure – 3 pin plug.

Do Trimble make a specific adapter cable for each, or do you need a precision agriculture tech to custom build them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
