NEMO | I sold the big chuck of our calves this last week at the sale barn. Now I'm seeing dollar signs.
I know if you keep X amount of heifers every year to breed you should stay the course. But what if you skipped a year and take advantage of these high prices?
Hay supplies are low and will likely stay low going forward. We can always chop silage or wheat-lage if need be.
Calf profits per acre currently look good compared to corn or soybean projections.
I have kind of been in expand mode the last couple years so skipping a year probably wouldn't be all bad.
So what would you do: Keep the yearling heifers to breed or sell them?
