Hello, I’ve been using agtalk for ideas and problem solving for quite some time now and figured I was due to speak up and post a few pictures of our operation.
My wife and I help work her fathers cattle operation in Central Oregon while building our own herd. We raise purebred Charolais cattle with the purpose of providing cattleman range ready bulls, which are sold at auction every spring. The last two years we bred our charolais replacements with a red angus and our first composite offering will be next spring (2019) which we a excited about.
We usually put up 2 cuttings of hay on a few hundred acres of irrigated and graze the remainder. This year I had some success at making dry hay out of a oat pea and barley mix. No-tilled in radishes turnips and winter triticale that will get grazed starting mid October.
