Central Illinois | Responses have ask several questions so I am posting some answers and details.
I am indeed lucky that my wife insisted we go to ER on Friday morning or this would have been a weekend ordeal.
My appendix was inflamed, Dr. called in HOT, but had not ruptured.
The Dr. said I was within hours of having a ruptured appendix.
Based on some of the comments I now know this would be a very bad thing.
I had orthoscopic surgery using 3 very small incisions, one in by belly button, which is now an outie.
Surgeon stapled each end of the appendix (that must be one VERY small stapler).
The appendix was then placed inside a bag so it would not leak into the abdominal cavity when the ends were cut.
After removal the staples were removed and the blood vessels tied off.
The surgery part of the procedure only toke about 20 minutes but i was "out" for 2 hours.
No heavy lifting (over 5 pounds) and no swimming for 10 days.
Glad there's no hay ready to bale. :)
I slept most of the weekend and in fine today.
Only pain is from muscles that were moved during surgery.
The Dr. said my small intestine was moved out of place during a hernia operation several year ago so he put it back where it should be, no extra charge. :)
