S Illinois | Does anyone know where one could find monthly price averages for July contracts or Nov/Dec contracts. I was wanting to build a historical based price probability model. Was at a crop insurance meeting that showed some of that data and would like to expand on it.
Their data which was presented as the monthly average of the Dec/Nov contract price starting in prior Nov and continuing through July and included the Oct insurance price. This data ran from 1997-2016. From this I ranked the top 3 price month average of each year. This showed that the best months historically to price new crop corn was Nov, May, Jun/Jul tie. For soybeans the months were Jun, July, May. The poorest time to price either new crops was Jan/Feb. | |
