Subject: Fall tillage: with the row, or angled?

Floyd County, Iowa
I'm done with mine for the year, so been putting in quite a bit of time hauling urea from Prairie du Chien, and hauling corn & beans to processors for co-op, driving different routes.

I've noticed some guys pulling a disk ripper with the row instead of angled.
I've always worked mine at an angle, sometimes 7 degrees, up to 15 degrees, trying to find the "sweet spot".
Any advantages or disadvantages of ripping with the row?

I've been looking into stalk stompers, or something similar, to cut down on stubble damage to tires, while at the same time getting the right dirt/trash combination.
Seems that going with the row would help with stubble damage, but thinking that going with the row won't cut stalks very well, whether "stomped" or not.
Currently I have a 643 corn head (non-chopping), and I cut my stalks with a batwing to about 8", then pull M&W 1165 at 7 to 15 degrees.
Trying to save trips, fuel, costs in general. No-till is not an option at this time.
Thoughts?
