Subject: oil life sensor.

S.C. Wisconsin
On my 2008 Toyota truck the oil change light comes on at 5000 miles no matter what oil I use. I have a 2014 Honda CRV and with dino oil it comes on at 15% life at about 6000 miles. A couple of changes ago I switched it to Mobil 1 and the oil change light came on at 15% life. I was busy and didn't check the mileage until I changed it at 5% of the life left. When I checked the mileage I was pleasantly surprised that it went 10,500 miles. So the synthetic does work. The next change I used the Farm & Fleet brand of 100% synthetic oil as it was half price of Mobil 1 and it meets all of the spec's. I just changed that when the life was down to 10%, I checked the mileage and it was 10,300 miles. With both synthetic's the usage was zero. How do these sensors measure the oil life? It seems the low priced synthetic was just as good as the high end stuff. Not looking for fight but just stating what I am seeing.
